A day in the life - Beauty Blogger Sophia Ford

As part of our 'future proof your skin' campaign, the team at Balance Me have tracked down inspirational women across the age-groups to write about what a typical day means to them - often doing very untypical things! Today we have Sophie Ford -  a beauty blogger also known as the Tattooed Tea Lady! With over six thousand dedicated followers on twitter and many more reading her blog every day, Sophia helps her readers navigate the world of beauty, recently launching her #mylittleskincareproject, as well as showing them her favourite new beauty launches. We find out what a typical day for this twenty something blogger includes…

“Whenever my friends or family ask what I do, they’re surprised my day isn’t just sat at home playing with beauty products. By day, and my first priority, I am a final year undergraduate student studying a Psychology degree. By night, and around my degree, I am a full time blogger as well as having to balance work deadlines and a household, family, a relationship - as well as trying to get some me time in there too! Today I’m going to share with you my life on an average day.

The great part of working for yourself whilst studying, is that it fits in perfectly with the ‘student life’. I love a long lie in, but usually I’m up and starting my day by 5am and my first priority? My skin. I like to indulge in pampering my skin as often as possible and in the mornings I make sure to really care for my skin and have it pampered as I do at night, prepped for the day ahead. My favourite products to use in the mornings are my beloved Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash and my lovely Wonder Eye Cream. The Wonder Eye Cream especially helps me wake up and feel refreshed from what is usually a short night’s sleep!

Once my skins cleansed and pampered I settle down with a hot cup of tea and sort through my email inbox. I have one email account for everything; uni, my blog, work, personal – so my inbox constantly needs some attention. Whilst working at my desk I always turn to my Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream, which is my favourite hand cream for how lovely and hydrating it is, but also one of my absolute favourite scents in a beauty product, ever! I like to pamper my hands, nails and cuticles throughout the day so I have a lovely little white rabbit ring dish from a cute little shop called Gifts & Pieces where I have my Balance Me hand creams, cuticle oils and lip treat too!

Throughout the day I have to split my time between my blog and Uni, as well as getting all my ever-mounting jobs done. You’d think being a blogger is all about sitting on your warm, cosy bed with a laptop, having duvet days and playing with beauty products all day – but I‘m never sat down for long! I’ve learnt to be quite a multi-tasker, which is great for someone who likes to keep as organised as possible – I’ll be taking blog photos whilst reading journal articles, ordering the weekly food shop whilst doing beauty research or being a friendly babysitting neighbour whilst working to both Uni and blog deadlines. But it never feels like a chore, I try to be as positive as possible in my life and everything is seen as something to achieve, even something small, and it keeps me motivated to do so many things at once (but you can always be sure I have some beauty YouTube videos on in the background!) I love that even though I am in the comfort of my own home, my days are always busy!

When evening draws near I’m more than ready to settle down with a good film, copious amounts of tea and just relax. Once or twice a week I’ll stick a typically cheesy chick-flick on, pop a face mask on, (usually the Balance Me Radiance Face Mask if it’s mid-week!) and have a lovely little pamper! My skin is always the first place to show signs of stress or tiredness, but my Wonder Eye Cream always sorts my dark circles out and the Balance Me Radiance Face Oil is my perfect night-time pamper product during the colder months, to keep me looking radiant, rejuvenated and youthful. A cheesy film later and it’s time for more of my Super Moisturising Hand Cream, read some of my favourite book, before disappearing into dreamland to do it all again the next day!"
