Last night I attended a very poignant event in aid of Marie Chappelow’s charity ‘Every Day Counts’ for the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital. Our husbands work together and Marie is a mum of two young children who was diagnosed 18 months ago with advanced and aggressive bowel cancer, after a routine GP visit for abdominal pain and tiredness. Rather than letting her cancer beat her (and hers is incurable), Marie is living her life in the present, enjoying every day with her family and friends and raising money for research to ensure that one day, another mum will not have to live through the endless rounds of chemotherapy that she is currently undergoing.
As another mother of two I can’t imagine the emotional, as well as physical pain she is going through. It is heart-breaking. It reminds of me why I embarked on my Balance Me journey in my quest for a better work/life balance and to bring to market skincare products using naturally-derived ingredients, free from any ingredients that had potential question marks surrounding their source. that delivered tangible results and skin benefits without compromising on quality.
Our marketing manager told me last week her godmother is tragically battling cancer for the third time and our super moisturising hand cream has helped to heal the acutely painful skin tissue around her hands, particularly her thumbs and fingers (where she has lost nails) caused by many months of intensive chemotherapy treatment. She has been quite overwhelmed to see her hands come back to life – something she didn’t think would ever be possible. This is not the first cancer patient customer testimonial Balance Me has received and sadly it will not be the last but I am glad that our products can bring some relief and comfort to the many brave people who are undergoing aggressive medical treatment.
