French and English style Fusion – Q&A with House of Spring Founder, Radhia

French and English style Fusion – Q&A with House of Spring Founder, Radhia

French Chic, Parisian shoes and British style. We quizzed House of Spring founder on her shoe brand, what inspires her and all about her skincare.

When you design a new pair of shoes, what inspires you?

I was born in Paris and lived there until I moved to London for a new love and fashion adventure. La Parisienne is my main inspiration when I design a new collection. I go to Paris every month and like to sit in the terrace of a café and watch the women in the street. The Parisienne look, the ‘je ne sais quoi’ attitude and effortless chic style inspire me.

What 3 pairs of shoes will you always find in a Parisian girl’s wardrobe?

For a Parisian girl, shoes are not just an accessory; they are one of the key pieces of the outfit. The 3 pairs of shoes that you will always find in her closet are:

  1. a pair of classic black stiletto shoes like our Vendôme pumps. These staple shoes match with everything from the office look to evening wear,
  2. a pair of super comfy and stylish shoes to be chic during the weekend – just like the Gigi pink brogues ;)
  3. a pair of “I’m confident and sexy shoes” for a date night like our T-bar Azur black shoes.

What’s your go-to weekend look?

Black slim jeans, bold colour cashmere jumper, an oversized coat and my Grace leo brogues!

The English definitely have something to learn from the French when it comes to skincare. What’s your daily routine?

Living in a big city, my skin is damaged from the pollution. For me, using natural skincare products is important to have beautiful skin. I have an oily skin with some dry patches and I like the Balance Me products. When I’m back home, I always go straight to the bathroom to remove my make up with the Flash cleanse micellar water to let my skin breath.

What’s your favourite way to have some ‘me time’?

My work is my passion! I live and breathe shoes! It can be difficult sometimes to stop working but once a week I stop everything to have some ‘me time’. I love going to yoga, strolling around Notting Hill and meeting my friends for a coffee to share gossip!

Where are your top 3 spots to hang out in Paris?

  1. My favourite restaurant in Paris is ‘Les Philosophes’ close to St-Paul Metro station, it’s an amazing French brasserie with very fresh and organic ingredients.
  2. I love strolling around Les Marais quarter to discover new up and coming designers and try to not spend a lot!
  3. One of the best views in Paris is from le Pont des Arts, it’s known as the lover’s bridge. Couples put a lock on the bridge to symbolize their love. I like to sit on a bench there and enjoy a glass of wine with my partner.

And in London?

  1. Greenwich is one of the prettiest parts of London. During the summer, I love to have a picnic or sun bathing there and watch the view over Canary Wharf.
  2. Last month, I discovered a very good restaurant in Soho, Tabum Kitchen. The dishes are so fresh and the staff were very nice!
  3. As a shoe vintage lover, I really enjoy going to Portobello road. It’s a ritual when my mum is in London.

What would your desert island beauty/skincare product be?

Defintely a moisturising shower gel.

Which of your shoes are great for the winter season ahead?

Our Grace Leo are the perfect black shoes with a chic twist that you can wear at the office or at the weekend -so versatile! For the Party Season, I recommend the super comfortable Nino pumps. The soft gold leather will automatically lift your outfit and everyone will notice your shoes!

And finally, have you got anything exciting for House of Spring in the pipeline?

We have a lot in the pipeline. The Stylist magazine invited us to be part of their fashion festival, The Stylist live, which will take place in London Olympia from 10-12 November. We will have a pop up shop at the festival look forward to meeting new customers and journalists. I’m so excited.
