Hellen van Rees invited some of us lucky Balance Me ladies to attend her London Fashion Week presentation. A champion of ethical fashion, Hellen has created a unique bag for us to give away which draws on the techniques and colours used in this latest collection. Read on to find out about her show, how to recreate the look and competition details…
Hellen presented her SS14 collection ‘Fuzzlayerglossbox’ to an eager crowd at the Freemasons Hall on Saturday. Keen fashion press and bloggers (including blogging queen Susie Bubble!) snapped away as models made their way around the dramatically lit Prince Regent Room in Hellen’s signature hand-woven garments. Nostalgic 1920s silhouettes were given a modern treatment in their composition; textured woven remnants inspired by Chanel contrasted the smooth, high-shine gleam of 3D rubber details, PVC strips and digital prints.
The mix of surface effects in the designs extended to the beauty styling, with a blend of muted textures and glossy accents. The neat, classic buns were given a softly undone, backcombed finish to leave hair wispy and matte, whilst the models’ skin had an ethereal glow.
Get the look
Luminous skin: The dramatic lighting from the show accentuated the gorgeous lustre of the models’ skin. To subtly illuminate your features, warm some of our radiance face oil between your palms and gently work into the skin using circular movements. The golden Amazonian buriti nut oil will boost the skin-plumping effects of a facial massage. If your skin is particularly dry, apply a very light layer of stellar face balm along cheekbones for a natural highlighter effect.
Classic lips: To recreate the glamour of the models’ red pouts, prep lips by using our rose otto intensive lip salve and dabbing off the excess to leave lips perfectly smooth before applying a slick of your favourite red lipstick.
For the ultimate ‘get the look’, we’re offering you the chance to WIN a bag designed exclusively for us by Hellen inspired by her SS14 collection.
