Discover more about this outstanding charity & the team that brought our partnership to life.
We are delighted to announce the launch of our partnership with The House of St Barnabas. We are proudly donating bespoke-made hand wash and lotion sets into the member’s club bathrooms and throughout the year will also be hosting a range of Balance Me events designed to boost skin confidence and restore wellbeing.
The House of St Barnabas’ effort to empower individuals into the work place is something close to the hearts of Balance Me Co-Creators Rebecca, Clare and Sian. It led them to remember all of the individuals that inspired them to take the leap and create the leading natural skincare brand that Balance Me is today. As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations this year, our ‘Touch A Life’ campaign aims to touch the lives of 10,000 amazing individuals and this partnership helps honour this promise.
“The House of St Barnabas is a prime example of how luxury meets social consciousness and everyone benefits as a result! As a luxury, natural skin care brand we are very excited to be forging a strong relationship with such an outstanding organisation” Rebecca Hopkins, Balance Me Co-Founder.

What's a typical working day at The House of St Barnabas like?
The first thing I do when I get into the office is go down to the Library Bar at The House of St Barnabas to get a triple-shot latte and see who is already in the club. I'm a coffee addict and this sets me up for the day!
My role is to build and nurture all our corporate relationships including members, corporate donors and brand partners as well as overseeing all of our fundraising. I make sure that I spend some time each day catching up with our corporate members and supporters when they are in The House of St Barnabas to see how they are and keep them updated about the progress of our Employment Preparation Programme. It’s great to see our participants doing their work experience shifts in the club and say hello to our graduates who now work at The House of St Barnabas.
I love showing people around the club and watching their reactions to our beautiful Georgian house and hearing how we use our club to help people change their lives.
I get to attend lots of wonderful events, such as the Walpole British Luxury Awards at the Dorchester this week, as an external ambassador for The House of St Barnabas, spreading the word about our charity and introducing new organisations to the club. We were recently shortlisted for the public vote for the RBS Skills and Opportunities Fund, results not yet known, and I have spent the last week gathering support for this vote from all our wonderful members and supporters. I have been really touched by the responses I have received to our work and had the opportunity to talk about our work and this fund on Soho Radio.
What gives you your biggest satisfaction within your role?
Knowing that the funds I raise help real people to achieve their goals. It is wonderful to see the growth in our programme participants over the course of the 12-week Employment Preparation Programme from a group of nervous, sceptical people to a group full of hope with an enormous sense of achievement. The actual moment that has given me the most satisfaction this year was realising that one of our graduates, working in the club, was not doing his work experience but had a secured a position as a waiter and was now training a new participant.
How do you help yourself unwind in the evenings and weekends?
The majority of my unwinding happens around my kitchen table. I balance evening entertaining on behalf of House of St. Barnabas with family nights hearing about their days or catching up with friends. We try to get out into the Kent and Sussex countryside as much as possible at the weekends, walking in the woods or visiting National Trust properties in the summer. Winter weekends are spent watching films, visiting art galleries or entertaining friends with a long Sunday lunch. I love to cook and entertain. Shopping and pampering are also a must for me on a Saturday morning which also allows me to spend some "girl" time with my daughter.
How did you come across Balance Me?
I first bought the Rose Otto Body Wash in Waitrose and started buying it for my friends as birthday presents. My husband had a charity event at work where Balance Me gift sets were for sale. He bought me one, which introduced me to other products and so I converted my skincare regime totally to Balance Me. I met the Balance Me team at the RBS Focused Womens' Group event in May 2015 and through Heather Melville and Jonathan Coates of RBS and I invited Rebecca in to The House of St Barnabas to outline my plans for our partnership. Luckily she agreed with me!
What excites you most about our partnership?
The breadth and depth of it. Not only are we going to have beautiful products in our bathrooms, we are hosting pop-up pamper parlours in our Drawing Room for our members as well as Balance Me getting involved in our Employment Academy.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone looking for a job what would it be?
How can people become a member at The House of St Barnabas and what can it offer them?
The House of St Barnabas is a creative, innovative and cultural space that’s been carefully curated for the continually curious, the engaged and those motivated by social change. Membership fees and the suggested donation facilitate the work of the charity’s Employment Academy, supporting London’s homeless back in to work. The club at The House of St Barnabas is a dynamic not-for-profit private members’ club in the heart of Soho. Full details of membership and the online application form can be found here.
We also offer bespoke Corporate Membership packages mutually created for the benefit of House of St. Barnabas and the corporate member. For more details email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our delicately fragranced, Rose Otto Body Wash formulated with an exquisite blend of Pure Rose Otto, Palma Rosa and Rose Geranium Essential Oils will soothe and strengthen skin in distress whilst also calming and balancing your mood through its soft Rose aroma. Skin will be left perfectly cleansed and balanced thanks to its sulphate-free formula that doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils.
