What are AHAs, and how they can boost your glow

Looking to boost your radiance, smooth your skin and unclog pores? It’s time to introduce AHAs into your skincare routine.

What Are AHAs?

AHAs are alpha hydroxy acids, a naturally occurring chemical compound found in various fruits, sugar cane and milk.

How do AHAs work?

AHAs offer a chemical exfoliation as an alternative to manual exfoliation. They work by breaking down the glue holding your skin cells together, urging along the skin’s natural shedding process. AHA’s effects are primarily felt on the skin’s surface so surface-level skin concerns such as red marks from past acne or hyperpigmentation benefit from the constant sloughing off dead, dull cells.

Who are AHAs suitable for?

AHA’s are good for dehydrated skin as they are made up of molecules that love water, helping to improve the skin’s moisture content. They exfoliate the skin’s surface so they can help to reduce fine lines, dark spots and acne scars too. Glycolic Acid (from sugar cane) is used to help treat oily and blemish-prone skin thanks to its ability to unblock pores and clear trapped bacteria.
