Spotlight on Exfoliation and Oat Powder

A quick guide to exfoliation and the magic ingredient oat powder

Exfoliation is vital for all skin types. If you have dry skin, sloughing away the dead dry flaky skin allows moisturising products to be better absorbed by the skin. If you have clogged pores or more oily skin, exfoliating the skin helps to control the sebum production. Even if your skin is sensitive, exfoliation is still vital, but as gently as possibly.

There are two different methods use to exfoliate skin, either chemical or manual. Chemical exfoliation uses acids, and can be harsh on the skin, especially when it’s sensitive. Manual exfoliation uses physical beads or gains to scrub away the top layer of skin. This can be gentler on the skin, if the correct physical exfoliator is used.

Oat powder is a great option for those with sensitive skin. Whilst it is an effective exfoliator, it’s also known for its calming and soothing properties. Found in our Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm, mixed with Shea, mango and Cocoa, it offers a very gently and non-abrasive method of exfoliation.

Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm – How to Use

Shake the bottle well. Massage some of the product onto your dry face, using firm but gentle circular and upwards motions. Apply warm water to emulsify the balm and continue massaging. Remove with a muslin cloth. This balm is gentle enough to use everyday.
