The 4 best products to help soothe redness

Posted by Rebecca Hopkins on

Rosacea is a common skin condition that can be very frustrating for those who prone to it. Depending on the severity, the constant look of being flushed, and in some cases bumpy and inflamed skin, can often feel embarrassing and can really affect confidence levels.

In order to maintain and help soothe unwanted redness, it’s important to understand what it is, why it happens and what products can help to keep things under control.

What is Rosacea?

In its early stages, Rosacea can often be mistaken for looking a little more flush than usual, kind of like when someone gives you a wonderful compliment that you don’t know how to respond to. The redness will usually begin on the cheeks and can spread to the forehead, chin, ears, chest and even the back. As the condition progresses more symptoms can appear, here are some things to look out for:

  • Permanent redness
  • Burning and stinging sensations
  • Spots (papules & pustules)
  • Small blood vessels in the skin becoming visible

As with many skin conditions, different triggers can cause the condition to worsen in each individual person, however there are a number of common causes that you can take note of:

  • Extremely hot or cold weather or harsh winds
  • Certain foods, such as spicy food or dairy
  • Alcohol and caffeine
  • Too much sun exposure
  • Stress
  • Strenuous exercise

Redness and flushing can appear better on some days and worse on others, so finding the right products to help soothe flare-ups can really help to calm sensitive skin. We would recommend weaving these 4 products into your everyday skincare routine:

Super Berry Cleansing Balm

Our indulgent cleansing balm is rich in Jojoba oil which with its healing properties helps nourish and calm the skin. Paired with Raspberry Seed Oil and Sea Buckthorn Oil which hydrate and help shield against environmental aggressors.

How to use: Use the bamboo spatula to scoop out a pea-sized amount of balm. Warm it between your palms and massage over dry skin, massaging it into your face and taking it down onto your neck. Add warm water to emulsify and remove with a flannel or cloth.

Rose Otto Face Oil

This oil is perfect for protecting and strengthening the skin. If your skin feels sensitive to touch due to unwanted redness then this oil is ideal to use at night after cleansing as it deeply hydrates even the most sensitive and delicate skin.

How to use: Apply two drops to the palms of your hands and press into cleansed skin either once or twice daily, depending on how inflamed and dehydrated your skin is feeling.

Moisture Rich Face Cream or Pre and Probiotic Radiance Cream

It’s important to really listen to your skin and take note of the symptoms you are experiencing on that particular day. On days when your skin is feeling dry, flaky and tight, our Moisture Rich Face Cream will promote healthy skin production. It calms, protects and strengthens thanks to the essential oils of Rose Absolute and Rose Geranium.

It’s also possible for skin prone to redness to change and often feel more oily than dry and flaky, on these days use a lighter moisturiser so as to not overload your skin. Our Pre and Probiotic Radiance Cream contains Hyaluronic Acid and Manuka Honey to help hydrate and calm and rebalance skin.

How to use: Apply 1-2 pumps to the face and massage into your skin once your serum or oil has absorbed.

BB Natural Perfection SPF25

If you’re not one to pile on the makeup but wish to tone down the redness slightly, our lightweight BB Cream gets its colour from a pure mineral tint. Whilst lightly covering the appearance of redness and broken capillaries, our BB Cream is also packed full of skin-protecting ingredients. Hyaluronic acid will keep the skin hydrated, keeping it plump and looking fresh and rosehip oil will help soothe redness and flare-ups.

How to use: Apply using fingers or a makeup brush for a glowing, fresh and lightweight coverage.
